Most of you probably don’t know the history of Japanese eyewear. The craftsmanship dates back over 100 years to the Fukui region in western Japan, where Gozaemon Masunaga founded the eyewear industry. Today, Fukui is one of the world’s three largest eyewear production regions, alongside China and Italy, accounting for 96% of Japan’s total domestic production.
Sun of Japan aims to be a specialized online shop offering high-end sunglasses, handcrafted in Japan by world-leading manufacturers and artisans. It caters to the niche market of Japanese eyewear, serving a global audience of sunglasses connoisseurs.

Logo

The logo
The requested logo had to have the combination of Japan's symbols: Sun rays, Mt.Fuji and waves.

Colors

御召茶 Omeshicha
Used for logo and the pattern, the Omeshicha is blue with a greenish dull. It is said that this name was given because high-class crepe came to be called omeshi. 11st Shogun Hitoshi used habitually.

琥珀色 Kohaku-iro
Used for highlights, the Kohaku-iro,color, is tan with a transparent feeling like a stone of amber. Or also known as Amber patterned after English.

銀色 Gin-iro
Used for spaces,
The Gin-iro, and is also referred to as platinum, it is a gray with a beautiful metallic luster. Silver is a precious metal next to that gold has been loved from ancient times, l i kened to the sun and the moon ,respectively, and has been admired equally from ancient times.

The Pattern

The patterns
The patterns are inspired by Asian art deco, such as waves and sun rays. These patterns make up the identity and are used across Sun of Japan website, printed material, ads and SoMe.

Size guide
The design of the size guide reflect the brand identity with its japanese waves motif that is recurrent in every page.

Instagram feed
The feed is sometimes used as collage of the Sun of Japan universe adopting the patterns, colors and logo so to be consistent with the identity.
